Two recent PhDs selected for Alfred Hunter Memorial Award
Dr. Deena Abul Fottouh and Dr. Katie Steeves were each awarded the Alfred Hunter Memorial Award, given to a graduating PhD student at McMaster Sociology in recognition of academic excellence.

Dr. Abul Fottouh's dissertation, "Solidarity and Schism: Twitter Networks of Egypt’s Revolution," is a social network analysis of activists in Egypt before and after the fall of President Hosni Mubarak. Dr. Steeves conducts a qualitative, ethonographic analysis that examines the unique perspectives of women clergy in her dissertation, "The Lived Experiences of Women in Ministry." Professor Alfred Hunter was a member of the Sociology Department from 1984-1993, serving as Chair for much of his tenure.
