Tina Fetner’s research expertise on anti-LGBTQ activism in Canada and the United States reflected in CBC story on the aftermath of violence at Hamilton Pride.

Dr. Fetner comments that “there's a ‘slowness’ and ‘lack of enthusiasm’” to address right-wing anti-LGBTQ violence by Hamilton police, City Council and the mayor. She notes that far-right politics, including white supremacist, anti-immigrant, and anti-LGBTQ activism, is on the rise throughout North America and Europe. How cities respond to this surge has a big impact on the communities that these groups target.
