McMaster Sociology endorses statement of solidarity
We stand with all who are feeling pain, anger, and grief at the continuing pattern of police violence against Black people.

McMaster Sociology endorses the following statement of solidarity with all those who stand against systemic racism and white supremacy issued by members of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Sociological Association.
The African-Caribbean Faculty Association of McMaster University (ACFAM) and the Indigenous Studies Program at McMaster have also released powerful statements, and we wish to express our support and solidarity with them.
We are saddened and outraged by the recent killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet following a police encounter in Toronto, and the longstanding pattern of police violence against Black people in the United States and Canada. We are especially mindful of the negative impacts on our Black colleagues and friends. We stand in solidarity with you and we unequivocally denounce anti-Black racism.
We also recognize that there is much internal work to do in the Sociology Department. We are committed to making the Department a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive place - and we welcome suggestions about concrete actions the Department could take to pursue our vision of inclusive excellence.
