Dr. Lisa Kaida receives SSHRC Insight Grant

Assistant Professor Dr. Lisa Kaida from the Department of Sociology has been awarded the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s Insight Grant.

McMaster Sociology assistant professor Lisa Kaida has received an Insight Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

Her project “The long-term economic integration of privately sponsored refugees in Canada” (with Co-Applicant: Dr. Feng Hou, Western University) has been funded ($95,015) from 2018 to 2021. Drs. Kaida and Hou are currently examining the employment and earnings trajectories of the Privately Sponsored Refugees using the IMDB data. Their findings will be presented in the 6th Québec Interuniversity Center for Social Statistics (QICSS) International Conference “Immigration’s Impact, Immigrants’ Outcomes:  New Results Using Business and Social Data” in Montreal in October 2018.
