Congratulations to a McMaster Sociology graduate Haley Hutchinson on starting a Consultant position in the Ontario Ministry of Health. She is currently working in the Health System Emergency Management Branch supporting the Ministry’s Emergency Operations Centre. Haley has been working alongside the vaccine team to support the provincial COVID-19 vaccine allocations. Using the data experience earned at McMaster, Haley has helped manage the international travellers pilot program data that provides outreach for international travellers entering Canada.

Haley graduated from the McMaster Sociology MA program in 2020. In her Major Research Paper (MRP), titled “Like Father Like Son? An Examination of Family Socialization Practices in Elite Athletes,” she conducted a quantitative analysis on the impact of family legacy (e.g. having a father who was also an NHL player) on the success of NHL players (the supervisor: Dr. Lisa Kaida; the second reader: Dr. Paul Glavin).
