2017 McMaster University President’s Awards for Outstanding Service

It is with great pride that we congratulate Corinne Jehle, Administrative Assistant, Graduate Program, Department of Sociology on her recent McMaster University President's Award for Outstanding Service in 2017

Jun 02, 2017

For 27 years Corinne Jehle has been helping Sociology students succeed. She is the heart of the Sociology Graduate program, helping students successfully navigate the graduate experience.

Over the past decade Corinne has been central to the Sociology’s Department successful increase in the number of graduate students applying for and receiving highly competitive and prestigious scholarships such as the Ontario Trillium, SSHRC and Ontario Graduate Scholarships.

Corinne has also taken a lead role in supporting professional development and formalizing best practices for the Graduate Assistants in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Congratulations Corinne from all of us in the Sociology Department!

“Corinne has been a passionate advocate for her students and faculty, often going above and beyond to ensure that their experience is positive and successful.” - Stephanie Baschiera, Associate Registrar and Graduate Secretary, School of Graduate Studies

"As Grad Chair, I was able to witness first-hand Corinne's total dedication to her job, her passion for getting even the smallest details right, and her devotion to the graduate students.

One example that strikes me in particular is Corinne's idea that the graduate administrators from various departments should work together to put on a workshop for MA students who are seeking careers outside the academy. She volunteered to take the lead on this idea, invited experts, arranged a room, and put on a successful event, by all accounts. This is clearly above and beyond her regular job, but it will not be a surprise to anyone who knows Corinne. She cares about the students and wants to do right by them, even if it takes some extra effort." - Dr. Tina Fetner, Department of Sociology

"Corinne Jehle’s contributions to the university have been exceptional and far beyond the call of duty. She is the moving force in bringing together the graduate administrators in the Faculty of Social Sciences for monthly meetings to share information and advice, including arranging the agenda, inviting visitors from SGS and elsewhere, and identifying issues for discussion." - Dr. Tony Porter, Associate Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences,  Graduate Studies and Research
