The department has close to 25 members. There is a strong research focus and we pride ourselves on the impact of our research. Our dynamic research program covers a wide range of sociological and interdisciplinary research.

Undergraduate Programs

We offer a wide variety of courses in such areas as culture, deviance, education, family, gender, ethnic and race relations, health and health care, media, methods, occupations, organizations, theory, sexualities, social inequality, technologies, and work.

Social Sciences research team to study sexual behaviour in Canada

A McMaster University Social Sciences research team has been awarded a five-year SSHRC Insight Grant in the amount of $272,536 to conduct the first extensive study of social policy, attitudes and sexual behaviour in Canada.
