An Introduction to Sociology (online, Spring 2020)

In this course we will explore a range of topics studied by sociologists to help us understand our social world and our place in it. A sociological perspective illuminates how personal choices and individual destinies are shaped by society. There are a range of topics covered in this course including sociological theory, research methods, culture, socialization, media, intimate relationships and families, gender and sexualities, inequality, race and ethnicity, globalization, work and the economy, deviance and crime, and health and aging. Please note that theory is an important component of readings and online content in this course. An etextbook will be available for this course. Details will be provided when they are available.
