Ethnic Relations

This course begins by offering students conceptual frameworks to understand ethnic relations. Students will be able to differentiate the difference between racism and ethnic stratification. Issues tied to ethnicity will be examined comparatively; thus, giving students deeper understanding about the complexity in studying ethnic relations. Some of the preliminary questions that the course asks are as follows: what is ethnicity? How is it measured? What are ways to identify ethnic discrimination, violence and oppression?
